Finance Minister Mahat Affirms: No Exemption from Loan Repayment Obligations

Bhaktapur: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat emphasized that nobody is exempted from repaying loans. Speaking at an event organized by Madhyapurthimi Municipality to commemorate Shankhadhar Day, the minister stated that individuals are obligated to repay loans when they borrow and invest extensively.

Addressing the gathering, Mahat highlighted that economic development in Nepal could be achieved through the advancement of information technology, hydropower, and tourism. He encouraged the youth to explore the opportunities available in the country.

Asserting that the republic achieved through the sacrifices of the people cannot be taken away, Mahat dismissed negative sentiments aimed at changing the system. He acknowledged efforts to spread propaganda against the system through social media.

Discussing the contributions of Shankhadhar Sakhwa, Mahat announced the government's decision to implement Nepal Sambat as the official calendar. He underscored the importance of showcasing the identity of Nepal, particularly the Newari civilization, to the world and protecting and advancing the developed culture.

Other speakers at the event included Nepali Congress central member Madan Krishna Shrestha, CPN (Maoist Centre) central member Dilip Prajapati, Bhaktapur District Coordination Committee chief Ishwor Bahadur Thapa, Nepali Congress Madhyapur municipal president Haridas Prajapati, Image Channel Chairperson RK Manandhar, and President of the Rastriya Bibhuti Shankhadhar Sakhwa Pratisthan Gyan Ram Shrestha. They stressed the need for a campaign to promote Nepal Sambat as the common date for all Nepali people.

The Mayor of Madhyapurthimi Municipality, Surendra Shrestha, urged everyone to unite in implementing the government's decision to use Nepal Sambat as the official date of the country. The municipality observes Shankhadhar Day annually to commemorate Sakhwa's contributions.
